Blue Sky Haven - 307
My work captures timeless moments of joy along the coastline, from sea swimming, bike rides and walks, I am interested in the landscapes of past industries and settling culture in high contrast along the timeless ebbing shoreline of the Island we live on, fuelled by abstract narrative and colour love of the gold waking and sleeping of the day of urban sea town and Sussex shores.
Born in Sussex, Early childhood West Indies, returned to UK
BA HONS First Class Harrow School of Art and Design
Post Grad First Class HONS & MA St Martins School of Art and Design
Urban living by the sea, coastal walks and the South Downs way, living in the West Indies in my early childhood mixed with travel in Mexico, India and Morocco have fuelled my desire to create unique and vibrant colour contrasts in my art work. I am inspired by moments in nature to evoke the realms of semi abstract beauty and colour love to bring joy to my audience . Also lIstening to electronic abstract music while I paint is integral to my art working progress switching my creativity into an emotional response 'matter and spirit turned into a visual reality' Fourtet and HAAI to name a few will be on my playlist. I have always loved swimming as a source of renewal and during the strange days of lockdown i have been sea swimming weather permitting which has had a huge influence to my current freedom of colour, movement and expression in my latest collection of paintings, you will see my work has evolved into a new realm during 2020, a silver lining during those surreal days. I hope you enjoy my painting as much as I enjoy producing it, my mission is to create beautiful art to bring energy and joy to my audience through colour and composition on canvas or found vintage frames, using a contrast of finished gloss and matt surfaces to project a golden light ever changing authenticity of natural light in the elements.I like collect other peoples forgotten memories collecting vintage frames and paint over the glass to create new captured moments upcycling lost and found into a new energy of colour mark and texture
